Industry is essential to the U.S. economy, producing things we use every day and providing high-quality jobs. At the same time, industrial activities account for a nearly a third of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. C2ES views industrial decarbonization as an opportunity to modernize industry and make it competitive now and in a low-carbon future. We work with companies, policymakers, technology innovators, and other stakeholders to develop and advance policies and solutions to make this possible.
The Industrial Markets initiative helps build the case for durable and nonpartisan industrial decarbonization policy. We work with companies, policymakers, and partners to envision advanced industrial decarbonization technologies as a key element of a competitiveness agenda: a way to modernize U.S. manufacturing, expand domestic supply chains, support high-quality jobs, and ensure that American firms can compete in growing global markets.
LEARN MOREC2ES is a partner in the Clean Industrial Technology Campaign (CITC), a coalition working to advance federal policies that accelerate deployment of technologies to reduce emissions from energy-intensive industries. Through this effort, C2ES collaborates with ClearPath and Clean Air Task Force, as well as leading industrial companies and other partners, to support innovation across major industrial sectors.
The campaign focuses on policies that help move promising technologies from demonstration to commercial deployment, enabling manufacturers to reduce emissions while maintaining global competitiveness.
C2ES supports the Renewable Thermal Collaborative (RTC), a coalition of companies, institutions, governments, and technology providers dedicated to scaling renewable thermal energy solutions. Since its launch in 2017, the RTC has grown into a leading forum for organizations seeking to reduce emissions from heating and cooling operations while maintaining reliability and affordability. C2ES provides key direction to overall strategy of the RTC and leads the thermal energy storage, electrification, and federal and state policy workstreams.
RTC Members include industrial and institutional thermal energy users across manufacturing sectors such as automotive, building materials, chemicals, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and pulp and paper. RTC Solutions Providers include a wide range of clean heat experts, renewable thermal technology developers, financing specialists, consultants, utilities, and more.
