C2ES Ranks Among World’s Top Environmental Think Tanks for 10th Straight Year

WASHINGTON – The Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) was recognized for the tenth consecutive year as one of the world’s top environmental think tanks.

C2ES ranked 5 among the 99 environment policy think tanks in the University of Pennsylvania’s 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index, based on a worldwide survey of hundreds of scholars, academics, public and private donors, policymakers, and journalists.

“C2ES is honored to be ranked once again among the world’s top environmental think tanks,” said C2ES President Bob Perciasepe. “Climate action has never been more imperative, and the opportunity to strengthen ambition both in the United States and globally has never been greater. I’m grateful to our dedicated staff and board, the members of our Business Environmental Leadership Council, and the many other partners around the world who will be vital to our continued success in these critical times.”

In 2020, C2ES continued to play a leading role in building consensus among climate negotiators from key countries and worked with dozens of companies through our Climate Innovation 2050 initiative to identify pathways to decarbonize the U.S. economy by midcentury. In December, C2ES issued a joint statement signed by 47 leading companies urging President Biden and Congress to work together to enact ambitious, durable, bipartisan climate policy.

C2ES research last year also included analysis of how cities can protect economic competitiveness and realize new opportunities in the face of chronic climate impacts, in The Resilience Factor: A Competitive Edge for Climate-Ready Cities, as well as a series of virtual events featuring business executives speaking to the net-zero pledges and actions of their companies.

C2ES has also led a conversation along with the Retailers Industry Leadership Association on the outlook for growing electrified trucking options and expanding electric vehicle charging at retailer locations. Early in the year, C2ES co-hosted the ninth annual Climate Leadership Conference and Awards in Detroit.

This week, C2ES released a comprehensive set of climate policy priorities for the new administration and Congress, and hosted a virtual conversation between business executives on the business case for ambitious, bipartisan climate action.
