C2ES Again Ranks Among World’s Top Environmental Think Tanks
WASHINGTON — The Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) was recognized for the eighth consecutive year as one of the world’s top environmental think tanks.
C2ES ranked fourth among environment policy think tanks in the University of Pennsylvania’s 2018 Global Go To Think Tank Index, based on a worldwide survey of hundreds of scholars, academics, public and private donors, policymakers, and journalists.
“We feel honored that our efforts to help policymakers and stakeholders forge effective climate solutions are so widely recognized,” said C2ES President Bob Perciasepe. “I’m grateful to our outstanding staff, partners, and supporters who have helped C2ES achieve and maintain our success through the years.”
In 2018, while celebrating its 20th year of thought leadership, C2ES continued moving forward with more innovative climate solutions.
C2ES initiatives included substantial contributions to the discussions leading to implementation of the Paris ‘’rulebook” approved at COP 24 in Katowice, Poland. In the wake of the rulebook’s adoption, C2ES organized 17 companies in signing a statement welcoming the decisions and urging governments to quickly conclude remaining issues.
Earlier in 2018, C2ES launched Climate Innovation 2050, a dialogue among more than two dozen leading companies to examine potential pathways toward substantially decarbonizing the U.S. economy; hosted discussions at the Global Climate Action Summit with the U.S. Conference of Mayors on advancing climate action and among business leaders on strategies for carbon neutrality; and led a Climate Week NYC discussion on financing the transition to a clean energy economy.
C2ES research and analysis in 2018 brought clarity and depth to pressing policy issues and guidance for business strategies, including publications on climate-resilient infrastructure; preserving zero-carbon U.S. nuclear generation; better reporting of climate risk in corporate financial disclosures; power purchase agreements; renewable thermal energy; and resilience strategies for communities affected by extreme weather.
In the coming months, C2ES is co-hosting the eighth annual Climate Leadership Conference and Awards, March 20-22 in Baltimore. C2ES in 2019 will also continue convening stakeholders from the public and private sectors – in live and virtual forums – to work toward solutions to protect our communities and infrastructure from growing climate risks while contributing to strong, sustainable economic growth.
