Bob Perciasepe on passage of the energy innovation package

Statement of Bob Perciasepe
President, Center for Climate and Energy Solutions

December 22, 2020

On passage of the energy innovation package included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021:

“The energy package Congress approved last night as part of the stimulus legislation sends an important signal for climate and energy progress in the new year. This is a concrete example that bipartisanship does work and can lead to greater opportunity to cut climate pollution. This initial victory is also critical to re-establish the long-forgotten foundation of trust needed to enact lasting climate and clean energy policy going forward.

“It is the groundwork for the kind of ambitious, durable, and bipartisan climate policy that 42 companies called for earlier this month in a statement to Congress and the incoming Biden Administration. There’s still much more to be done, and we look forward to working with congressional leaders to present ambitious climate legislation to the White House next year.”
