Click on any circle to learn about one of the billion-dollar weather events between January 2000 and December 2024.

States are colored on a sliding scale based on the number of drought years since 2000. For this map, a drought year is considered any year in which a state experienced an extreme or exceptional drought (D3 and D4) for a period of at least two weeks, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
