WASHINGTON—The Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) is pleased to welcome Wilson Ervin to the Board of Directors. Wilson brings decades of world-class expertise in sustainable business practices, capital markets, risk management and climate solutions.
Ervin’s career in finance spans nearly four decades, much of it spent with Credit Suisse, where he served as the firm’s global Chief Risk Officer, a member of the Executive Board, and as Vice Chairman before retiring from the firm in 2020. Following the events of the 2008 financial crisis, Ervin moved to a policy role, focusing on banking reforms. He received Risk Magazine’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” for his work in proposing and developing the “bail-in” strategy to enable the resolution of large banks.
Ervin most recently served as a Climate Counselor for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, with a focus on climate finance and financial stability issues. Ervin received his A.B., summa cum laude, in Economics from Princeton University. He resides in New York City with his wife and daughters.
“Wilson Ervin brings best-in-class experience in navigating complex financial systems, and I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome him aboard,” said C2ES Board Chair Ann Klee. “His background, spanning senior roles in the private sector and in public service, makes him a perfect fit for C2ES.”
“Wilson Ervin’s deep expertise in climate finance and environmental issues will be an invaluable asset to C2ES as we grow our impact,” said C2ES President Nat Keohane. “We are excited to benefit from his perspective and insights, especially as C2ES expands our work developing the research, tools and resources companies need to advance their own transition and thrive in a net-zero economy.”
“I’m honored to join the C2ES Board and eager to draw on my experience in sustainable practice and investment to help advance its mission,” Ervin said. “I look forward to supporting C2ES’s efforts to accelerate clean energy and climate progress.”
C2ES, founded in 1998 as the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, works to secure a safe and stable climate by accelerating the global transition to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and a thriving, just, and resilient economy. Underpinning every aspect of C2ES’s work is its belief in equitable climate solutions — ensuring that the benefits of the transition to a net-zero economy are widely shared and that vulnerable communities are protected from climate impacts.
