The latest report from the Pew Center, "The European Union's Emissions Trading System in Perspective", examines the development, structure, and performance of the system to date.

In addition to assessing the system's initial objectives and outcomes, this report addresses common misperceptions of the trading system's performance and explores the lessons of the EU-ETS that Congress can draw on as it contemplates an American cap-and-trade system. (May 8, 2008)

Ohio Adopts Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard

On May 1, 2008, Governor Ted Strickland signed into law a bill that establishes an alternative energy portfolio standard for the state of Ohio.

The bill also creates a renewable energy credit tracking system, which allows utilities to buy, sell, and trade credits to comply with the renewable energy and solar energy requirements.
