U.S. CO2 Emissions from the Electric Power Sector

This figure shows the emissions of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels in the generation of electric power. The three electricity-generating fuels shown here are coal, natural gas, petroleum and non-biomass waste. Emissions have declined since 2007 mostly due to the global recession.
