With opportunities for mineral extraction and refining, battery and electric vehicle production, and leading research and workforce development institutions, Alabama could serve as a key player in the U.S. race to develop its domestic critical materials supply chain. On September 11, 2025, C2ES and the Alabama Mobility and Power Center will host a full-day regional roundtable event to highlight local business and academic leadership, identify focus areas for in-depth research and policy development, and collaboratively generate policy and programmatic solutions to pressing challenges. This event will bring together key stakeholders including: businesses of all sizes, state and local policymakers, academic experts and leading researchers, economic development organizations, nonprofits, and other public- and private-sector partners.
