C2ES and Time Warner Cable announce partnership to promote greater sustainability

WASHINGTON – The Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) and Time Warner Cable (TWC) today announced a new partnership to help TWC employees form “Green Teams” to deliver on the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The teams will empower employees to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives, improve operational efficiencies, and support green initiatives in communities where employees live and work.

“Sustainability has become a core business strategy and companies are increasingly tapping the power of their employees to help them reach their goals,” said Katie Mandes, who directs C2ES employee engagement and sustainability programs. “By empowering individuals to save energy, TWC is contributing to the sustainability of its business and its communities.”

“Time Warner Cable believes in empowering our employees to help us become a better corporate citizen and be more involved in our local communities,” said Dave Flessas, SVP, Network Operations Center and Operations Support, and TWC Go Green Corporate Sponsor. “Our partnership with C2ES will help advance our company’s environmental goals and promote environmental stewardship among our employees.”

The partnership announced today is part of TWC’s “Go Green” initiative to lessen its impact on the environment while increasing business efficiencies and cost savings. TWC is on track to meet or exceed a 15 percent reduction in total carbon intensity by the end of 2014, which is being achieved through companywide recycling programs, increased use of fuel-efficient vehicles and energy-efficient building designs, among other initiatives.

Through its Make an Impact program, C2ES works with a wide range of companies to educate employees on steps they can take to live more sustainably. Through online tools, hands-on activities, and community outreach, C2ES and its corporate partners have reached more than 300,000 people, who have committed to take energy-saving steps. These commitments will keep more than 71 million pounds of greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere, which is the equivalent of taking 6,700 cars off the road.
