On the introduction of the America’s Clean Future Act:

“Senator Durbin’s America’s Clean Future Fund Act would be a serious and thoughtful down payment on the ambitious climate response we need from Congress. The proposal addresses the urgent near-term need for job creation while also cutting climate pollution and providing a foundation for the U.S. economy to thrive in a low-carbon future.

“A carbon price is a key pillar of long-term efforts to decarbonize our economy, supported by many leading companies and CEOs. This legislation also aligns with a set of priorities for congress we recently developed in close consultation with leading businesses, including its incentives for soil sequestration practices for farmers, creation of a climate bank to support investments in climate mitigation and resilience, and support for a just transition for impacted communities and for key technology solutions like carbon capture and storage. We commend Senator Durbin and his staff for their work on this important legislation and look forward to working with Congress, companies, and other stakeholders to advance ambitious and durable climate policies.”
