Statement of Bob Perciasepe
President, Center for Climate and Energy Solutions
March 31, 2021
On the Biden administration’s American Jobs Plan:
“Rebuilding our national infrastructure is a critical path toward creating the low-carbon future we need to address the climate challenge. A significant investment in modernizing our infrastructure for the low carbon economy will be the basis of job and economic growth for decades.
“The American Jobs Plan aligns closely with several C2ES recommendations made to Congress and the administration earlier this year, including the establishment of a clean electricity standard. The plan could upgrade the electric grid, invest in vulnerable communities and critical climate-resilient construction, supercharge our EV transition, and deploy direct air capture and carbon capture technology – all while creating the jobs to maintain that future. And we can do it with bipartisan support, because we can’t do without these investments. Americans deserve action from Congress and the administration, and to see them working together to enact the American Jobs Plan and get going on building a competitive low-carbon economy.”
