Bob Perciasepe on the U.S. vehicle standards rule

Statement of Bob Perciasepe
President, Center for Climate and Energy Solutions

March 31, 2020

On the U.S. vehicle standards rule:

“EPA is nonsensically finalizing a carbon pollution standard that car manufacturers can easily beat, that half the states don’t want and that will create legal uncertainty for an American industry that must compete globally. Automakers are already investing in electrification and other innovative technologies that will dramatically reduce the carbon output of the cars we drive. Instead of wasting time on rules that were out of date even before they were published, the administration should complement the carmakers’ steady advances by helping states and communities build out the infrastructure needed to speed this urgent transition.”
