Statement of Bob Perciasepe
President, Center for Climate and Energy Solutions
May 8, 2019
On clean energy standard legislation proposed by Senator Tina Smith (D-Minn.) and Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (D-N.M.):
“States, cities, and businesses have been making critical gains to mitigate their carbon footprints, but we need to address the glaring gap in U.S. leadership to curb the worst effects of climate change. This ambitious and achievable plan is the type of construct that could put us on a path to meet power sector reductions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.”
“This represents a constructive approach to reduce emissions from the power sector, a technology inclusive proposal that makes room for, and values, the roles of all sources, including nuclear, a wide array of renewable, and carbon captured fossil.”
