HR/Finance Intern


Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, Arlington, VA  

The part-time intern will work directly with the Director of Operations and Finance Manger. Prior to being hired, the selected candidate must be able to provide proof of academic credit or funding from an accredited college, university, or third party for the internship. Funding must cover at least minimum wage.        

Major Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the preparation and execution of open enrollment for benefits
  • Assist in entering employees’ leave into database and work with finance manager on reconciliation
  • Assist with posting open positions to job boards, colleges/universities, and social media sites
  • Ensure position applications are forwarded to appropriate hiring managers and entered into database
  • Assist in orientation of new hires and gathering documents for record keeping
  • Ensure the retention of accounting and employee files are maintained
  • Work with staff on reconciling monthly expenses and ensure proper coding to grants
  • Assist with auditing of general ledger of financial accounts
  • Other special project/duties as assigned
  • Willingness to pitch in at all levels


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in human resources, accounting or related field;
  • Familiarity with human resources and accounting best practices
  • Maintain a level of discretion with sensitive information;
  • Experience in Word and Excel required;
  • Attention to detail;
