This map shows a summary of regional, national, and subnational carbon pricing programs. Programs are classified as: carbon tax, emissions trading scheme (ETS, also known as cap and trade), and undecided for programs under consideration. “Scheduled for implementation” means countries have formally adopted carbon pricing through legislation and have an official start date; “under consideration” means the government has announced its intention to work toward implementation.
