Mark Barnett Joins C2ES Board of Directors

WASHINGTON— Today, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) is announced the appointment of Mark Barnett to its Board of Directors. A nationally recognized clean energy attorney and advisor, Barnett brings more than two decades of experience helping innovative companies, investors, and institutions advance clean energy technologies and infrastructure.

Barnett is a partner at Foley Hoag LLP and co-chair of the firm’s Energy & Climate Group. He is widely recognized for his work advising breakthrough energy technology companies, and developers and financiers of large-scale clean energy projects.

In addition to his legal practice, Barnett counsels emerging climate tech companies and investors, as well as organizations deploying capital to support clean energy innovation, climate mitigation, and adaptation. Earlier in his career, he served as vice president of business development and general counsel at Sun Catalytix Corporation, and as counsel at the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, now the Connecticut Green Bank, supporting the development and commercialization of clean energy solutions.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Mark to the board, and I’m excited about the expertise he brings with a combination of legal expertise, business acumen, and deep knowledge of the clean energy ecosystem,” said C2ES President Nat Keohane. “Throughout his career, he has been a champion for innovation, investment, and deployment, helping advance many of the technologies and projects that will be critical to achieving a net-zero future.”

“C2ES has long been one of the country’s most trusted and effective voices on climate and energy,” Barnett said. “It’s an honor to join the board of an organization so deeply committed to advancing practical, durable solutions and I’m looking forward to working with the C2ES team as they continue to drive meaningful progress on some of our most pressing issues.”

Barnett received his J.D. from Yale Law School and his B.A. in History and Environmental Studies from Yale College. He lives in Brookline, Massachusetts, with his wife, Katherine, and their three children.
