Statement of Kaveh Guilanpour on the Outcome of COP30

Statement of Kaveh Guilanpour
Vice President for International Strategies, Center for Climate and Energy Solutions

November 22, 2025

On the outcome of COP30:

“While sadly one country is stepping out, groups representing 194 countries stepped up to implement the Paris Agreement.

Countries worked together solidly for close to 24 hours — at the end of long negotiations over two weeks — in good faith to make a deal. While all countries had to make compromises, the COP30 outcome is one they can all take home. The exact wording they wanted might not be there. But all the ideas they brought to Belém are reflected in some form.

Despite some bumps in the road, COP30 has shown that multilateralism is alive and well.”
