- BP has an Environment Management System in place that also coordinates energy efficiency at facilities. Facilities have individual energy managers to monitor energy consumption and performance, and to provide training on energy efficiency for employees.

- BP has developed lubricants that support engine construction improvements intended to improve fuel efficiency and longer-lasting driveline fluids that improve fuel efficiency up to 1.5 percent.

This savings is equivalent to the energy needed to generate the electricity used in all the residential houses in California for one year. Dow’s energy efficiency program has resulted in energy savings of $8.6 billion dollars. Additionally, these reductions prevented 86 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.

Dow Chemical and Climate Change:Since 1990, Dow has reduced its absolute greenhouse gas emissions by more than 20 percent, a more rapid reduction than required by Kyoto Protocol targets. Through its conservation and efficiency efforts, Dow has reduced its energy usage by 1,400 trillion BTUs since 1994, equal to the electricity used by California households for 16 months. These actions by Dow have resulted in preventing 70 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.

- DTE maintains an Energy Partnership with more than 60 energy engineers who work with businesses to increase efficiency. Engineers are located at major manufacturing and commercial facilities in automotive, steel and other industries to survey industrial lighting, heating, ventilation, AC and water processing systems to increase energy efficiency and lower costs for customers.
- DTE launched three pilot programs to teach energy conservation to low-income customers.
- In 2009, DTE developed programs to assist low income households with energy efficiency measures, incentives for the construction of new Energy Star homes, and plans to offer energy audits on existing structures. The audits will focus on basic energy- saving measures, and incorporate items such as compact fluorescent lights, low flow shower heads and programmable thermostats.
