Introducing C2ES

We are very pleased to announce the launch today of C2ES – the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions – an independent, nonprofit organization working to advance strong policy and action to address the twin challenges of energy and climate change.

C2ES is the proud successor to the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, an established leader in the global climate effort. We bring the same experienced team and the same firm commitment to fact-based analysis and common-sense solutions.

Ensuring safe, reliable, affordable energy for all – while protecting the global climate – is a paramount challenge of the 21st century. Far greater effort is needed to keep these challenges from becoming true crises. At C2ES, we believe that real challenges require real solutions, and these are achieved only by working together. Here is how we intend to help:

A Reliable Source – We will provide timely, impartial information and analysis on the scientific, economic, technological and policy dimensions of climate and energy challenges. See, for instance, our new innovation report and our comprehensive look at extreme weather and climate change.

Working Together – We will bring together business, the environmental community, other stakeholders and policymakers to achieve common understandings and consensus solutions. One example is our collaborative effort to accelerate the deployment of plug-in electric vehicles.

Concrete Action – We will work with members of our Business Environmental Leadership Council and others to take action on the ground. Our Make an Impact program helps employees and consumers save energy and money and reduce their carbon footprints.

Innovative Policy – We will work closely with policymakers and stakeholders to promote pragmatic, effective policies at the state, national and international levels. Our rich web resources help both experts and citizens understand the issues, track government efforts, and contribute to the policy process.

We are deeply indebted to The Pew Charitable Trusts for its many years of generous support. But it is time we stand on our own two feet, and thanks to our many supporters in the business and philanthropic communities, we can. We thank our supporters.
